Mike's Meadow Working Party

Despite the gloomy, drizzly weather 14 volunteers and NT rangers raked and removed the cuttings from sections of the field which had already been cut. Much of the knapweed dominated area was then cut by scythe with four volunteers having a go at scything for the first time. The value of leaving some of the site uncut was demonstrated by a flock of visiting goldfinches.  An enjoyable and successful first joint volunteer session with a good selection of biscuits available for crib!
