Richard Cochrane Environmental Award Scheme for Primary Age Children
Roseland Environmental Action Community Team (REACT) is offering children the opportunity to take part in an exciting environmental award scheme.
Who can enter?
Any primary school age children as a whole school, class, youth group, or as an individual child. Children can submit up to 3 entries. Children must live or go to school or attend a youth group on the Roseland (including Tregony with Cuby).
What do children need to do?
Create a positive environmental submission which could be, for example :-
· Artwork – eg poster, photo, sculpture, painting - perhaps repurposing old materials.
· Film - perhaps an animation or a video of an environmental activity.
· Writing - maybe a letter to an MP or Parish Council, a story, poem or song.
· Activity – for example litter picking, tree planting or growing runner beans.
· Construction – maybe making a bug hotel, bird box or home for a hedgehog.
· Or anything else that creates a positive environmental impact.
How and when could this be done?
· at school, incorporated into the curriculum or at a youth group.
· at home with or without parental assistance.
· at a workshop held at The Roseland Centre and supported by REACT
· work can start on entries as soon as you like and to fit in with any other activities.
How and when are entries submitted?
Submissions need to be made using our Environmental Award Scheme Submission Form. Entries must be submitted by 30th June 2026.

How will the entries be judged?
Submissions will be judged by REACT, schoolteachers and youth group leaders, who will consider the positive and inspirational environmental impact of each entry, its creativity, the age of the child and the level of adult assistance.
What will be awarded?
· Every child that enters will receive a certificate.
· Each school/youth group gets a ‘best’ submission award
· One ‘best on the Roseland’ award – ‘The Richard Cochrane Award’ This award will include a locally grown tree and £25.
